Executive Officers

  • President

    - Act as the lead representative for the student body at Loughborough University and Loughborough College.
    - Provide line management for the Executive Officers and Section Chairs of Loughborough Students’ Union.
    - To work closely with the Union Director and the LSU Senior Management Team.
    - To be the primary Union representative and point of liaison on relevant University Committees.
    - Knowledge and awareness of issues and priorities affecting students.
    - Act as a spokesperson for communications to all external bodies; and be the lead officer for public relations.
    - The individual responsible for determining priority campaigns relevant to the whole student body and accessing their impact.
    - Act as the individual responsible for staffing matters through the Union Director.
    - Propose and initiate research (where required) to fulfill student needs and effectivly respond to University consultation.
    - Coordinate responses to consultation documents (nationally and locally).
    - Act as the Executive lead on the Union’s strategic plan and Disciplinary Policy.

  • Vice President

    - Act as the individual responsible for the Union's democratic/governance procedures and ensuring they are as effective and engaging as possible.
    - Act as the Executive Lead on the Executive Elections, Democracy and Representation Committee, and LSU Ideas Forum.
    - To deputise in the absence of the LSU President on relevant committees and on certain duties as specified by the President.
    - To represent LSU on University Council and other representative Boards and Committees.
    - To co-lead on the Union’s Strategic Plan and Disciplinary Policy.
    - Communicate with Commercial Service leads to maintain existing commercial streams and investigate new income possibilities.
    - Lead signature on the Executive budgets.
    - The individual responsible for builing links between LSU and the Halls & Hall Students Federation (HSF).

  • Education Executive Officer

    - Act to ensure that the feedback and interests of all students (Undergraduates and Postgraduates) are effectively represented.
    - Represent on University Committees such as Learning and Teaching Committee and University Senate.
    - Maintain a relationship with key stakeholders from the University (e.g. the Pro Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Academic Registry.
    - To lead, in partnership with the University, as the student representative on academic matters.
    - Work with Peer Support and Advice & Academic Representation across all schemes.
    - To support the strategic direction and development of Academic Representation and Peer Support.
    - To support and promote the elections, applications, and training for Peer Support and Academic Representation.
    - Act as the lead for the School President Team through regular meetings.
    - Empower and aid the School Presidents in the guiding of their Course Reps.
    - Empower and aid the Doctoral Researcher (DR) President and Vice-President Team in the guiding of their DR Lead Reps and DR Reps.
    - Support and empower the Department Students’ Federation (DSF) Leadership Team in guiding all student-led department committees.
    - To invest time and resources into recognising and rewarding volunteers.

  • Welfare and Diversity Executive Officer

    - Act as the lead on welfare and diversity related-issues affecting all members of Loughborough Students’ Union.
    - Act as the lead individual on ensuring that under-represented groups are supported and championed.
    - To liaise with the University and external groups on welfare and diversity related-issues and events, ensuring student views are represented.
    - Empower and support the development of the Hall Reps, Department SIOs, and Associations within the Welfare & Diversity Section.
    - To act as Chair of the Welfare & Diversity Committee (composition of which will be outlined in the sectional constitution).
    - Act as the main point of contact for students in need who reach out to LSU and signpost them to appropriate services.
    - To lead on campaigns and events that support students in the community, working with local stakeholders and developing multi-agency partnerships.
    - Where appropriate, work with the President to resolve issues regarding students living off-campus.
    - Act as a Director for the Loughborough Students’ Union Campus Nursery, attending meetings of the Nursery Management Board.

  • Sport Executive Officer

    - Act and fufill role of President of the Athletic Union, with overall responsibility for the Athletic Union Section.
    - Act as the individual responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the Athletic Union and ensure targets are met for continued development.
    - To manage and support the Athletic Union Clubs Officer in their operational targets.
    - Lead the Athletic Union Executive Team in scheduled meetings and major strategic decision-making.
    - To be a budget holder for the Athletic Union and Chair of the Athletic Union Finance Board,ensuring the Athletic Union’s financial sustainability.
    - Champion the Loughborough Sport strategy, working with the relevent bodies to ensure Loughborough Sport continues to be the best in the UK.
    - To support and represent the best interests of students in all areas of sport at Loughborough and action this in decision-making.
    - Chair the Sport Senate and drive the body forward; implementing student views and effecting change in the student sport climate.
    - Encourage the promotion and education of the sporting offer available at Loughborough and signpost students towards relevant opportunities.
    - In conjunction with the Students’ Union Vice President, be responsible for dealing with high-level sport specific disciplines.


Section Chairs

  • Action Section Chair

    - Act as the elected lead responsible for the delivery of community volunteering at Loughborough Students’Union.
    - To provide a comprehensive range of volunteering opportunities for students at Loughborough to support their personal development and employability.
    - Be an advocate for volunteering and build links between student, local, national and international communities.
    - Act as the main point of contact for the community regarding volunteering projects, as well as promoting the good work our volunteers do.
    - Ensure the Action Constitution is adhered to by leading and managing the Action Committee alongside Action Volunteers and Leaders.
    - Record volunteer hours and maintain the volunteering Halls League table.
    - Proactively engage external partners (including those within the University and local communities) in volunteering.
    - To work alongside the Executive Officer and Staff teams to develop and deliver a one year plan which works towards LSU's long term aims.
    - To be able to demonstrate the impact that volunteering has on individuals, the community and the university.
    - To deliver Student Volunteering Week to engage new students in volunteer opportunities.
    - Delivering key activities around the annual calendar such as Pick A Project Night.
    - To be the budget controller for the LSU Action Section.
    - Act as a Director for the Loughborough Students’ Union Campus Nursery, attending meetings of the Nursery Management Board.

  • Rag Section Chair

    - Act as the elected lead responsible for the delivery of student fundraising at Loughborough Students’ Union.
    - To provide a comprehensive range of fundraising opportunities for students at Loughborough.
    - To be an advocate for fundraising and raising money for causes close to our students hearts.
    - To act as the main of contact for students regarding fundraising opportunities and promote the impact our fundraising has in the community.
    - Ensure the Rag Constitution is adhered to by leading and managing the Rag Committee alongside Rag Volunteers and Leaders.
    - Record fundraising totals and the fundraisings Halls League table.
    - Proactively engage external partners (including those within the University and local communities) in fundraising.
    - To support and facilitate international fundraising trips and projects.
    - To work alongside the Executive Officer and Staff teams to develop and deliver a one year plan which works towards LSU's long term aims.
    - To be the budget controller for the LSU Rag section.

  • Societies Section Chair

    - Act as elected lead responsible for the delivery of student-led societies at Loughborough Students’Union.
    - To provide a comprehensive range of societies within five key areas:
    Academic & Careers, Culture & Faith, General Interest, Performance & Art and Outdoor & Sport.
    - To be an advocate for student-led activity and proactivly build links between the communities on and off campus.
    - Be the main point of contact for students regarding new society start-ups and existing society support and development.
    - To ensure the Societies Constitution is adhered to in line with the current running of LSU Societies.
    - To work alongside the Executive Officer and Staff teams to develop and deliver a one-year plan which works towards LSU's long term aims.
    - To be the budget holder for the LSU Societies Section.
    - To deliver key projects within the annual calendar such as the Societies Showcase.
    - To ensure societies act within the mission and values of Loughborough Students’ Union ensuring fairness and equality within student societies.
    - Aid and support new societies to become established and sustainable within the Societies Programme.
    - To provide support and guidance to all societies and to assist societies in need through mentoring and development planning.
    - Develop societies that will be sustainable and successful in the long-term as well as support societies who are at immediate risk of folding.
    - To be the budget controller for the LSU Societies Section.

  • Enterprise Section Chair

    - Act as the elected lead responsible for the delivery of events and activities aimed at developing entrepreneurial and employable skills.
    - Act as the lead responsible for LSU’s work with the Loughborough Enterprise Network (LEN) with a focus on the “inspire” strand.
    - To be an advocate for student enterprise and student start-ups.
    - To support Enterprise and Employability Reps within departments to deliver a holistic program of Enterprise and Employability.
    - To work alongside the Executive Officer and Staff teams to develop and deliver a one year plan which works towards LSU's long term aims.
    - To help run and manage student enterprise projects.
    - To be the budget controller for the LSU Enterprise section.

  • Media Section Chair

    - To be the elected lead responsible for the delivery of media and creative volunteering for Loughborough Students’ Union.
    - To provide a comprehensive range of volunteering opportunities to support personal development and employability.
    - Be an advocate for media and creative volunteering and ensure links are made between LSU Media and external partners.
    - Be the main point of contact for students that want to get involved in the media and creative industries.
    - Ensure the LSU Media Constitution is adhered to by managing the Media Executive Committee alongside LSU Media Section Representatives.
    - Deliver the strategic goals for LSU Media and aim to develop new ways of facilitating content creation.
    - Proactively engage external partners (including those within the University and the media industry) to provide a wide-range of opportunities.
    - To work alongside the Executive Officer and Staff teams to develop and deliver a one year plan which works towards LSU's long term aims.
    - To demonstrate the impact that media volunteering has on individuals, the community and the university.

  • AU Clubs Officer

    - Act as the elected lead responsible for the delivery of student-led AU Clubs at Loughborough Students’Union
    - Be the main point of contact for all Athletic Union club members and volunteers and assist with general adminstrive queries and concerns
    - To enhance the sporting performance of club members and their personal growth through initiatives such as Committee Training
    - To ensure the Athletic Union Constitution is adhered to and in line with the current running of all Athletic Union clubs
    - Ensure best practice is adopted within clubs including, but not limited to, updating and developing relevant policies and processes
    - To support clubs in the recruitment of its club members and membership processes
    - Work alongside the CVA (Coaching and Voluntering Academy) to oversee the development of Athletic Union coaches and volunteers
    - Strive to improve the welfare and support structures available within the Athletic Union
    - To act as the first point of contact for individual members, Committee and Kukri Representatives for the operational aspects of the Kukri kit deal
    - To assist the Sport Executive Officer in delivering the operational aspects of the Athletic Union Strategy
    - To Assist the Sport Executive Officer in relation to the Athletic Union Executive Team’s operational activity and their personal development
